Could you be sabotaging your weight loss with pop and juice? Continue reading to learn about how these sugary drinks could be doing harm to your weight loss efforts.
You Might Be Sabotaging Your Weight Loss with the Wrong Beverages
Just because you are drinking something doesn’t mean that it doesn’t contain any calories. In fact, liquid calories might be the reason why you are struggling to melt away the stubborn pounds.
According to NBC News, even if you are limiting the amount of food that you eat and you are exercising regularly, liquid calories can hold you back because you don’t often realize just how many calories, and how much sugar, you are consuming in a single serving.
How to Stop Sabotaging Your Weight Loss
There are a couple of major ways that people sabotage their weight loss efforts by choosing the wrong beverages every day.
First up is fruit juice. Sure, it might seem healthy because it comes from fruit, and fruit is good for you. The truth, though, is that fruit juice can be packed with sugar and calories that undermine your slim-down efforts. It doesn’t matter whether you stick with cranberry juice, orange juice, apple juice, or anything in between, as the calories will be mostly from sugar. To put things in perspective, a glass of orange juice contains 110 calories in 8 ounces. Not good!
Next up is soda pop. Just a single can of Coke contains around 140 calories, along with other undesirable ingredients that are best avoided if you want to get healthier and slim down. Plus, if you thought that choosing diet soda is the way to go, think again. Artificial sweeteners in diet sodas don’t provide nutrition, but they can stimulate areas in the brain and gastrointestinal tract associated with cravings.
No matter how much you exercise and how much you focus on eating the most nutritious foods at every meal, if you are drinking a lot of juice and soda, you are sabotaging your weight loss. Consider swapping those sugary drinks with plain water that is hydrating and doesn’t contain any calories. You might be surprised by how much more easily you are able to shed the pounds when you make this simple change to your daily life.
