On Your Back
When you sleep on your back, you might actually increase your odds of experiencing lower back pain. And what if you already have lower back pain? Then sleeping on your back would be a bad idea because it can actually make it worse. Plus, if you suffer from sleep apnea or you just snore a lot, sleeping on your back can also make those worse as well.
On Your Stomach
According to WebMD, when you sleep on your stomach, you might be making your sleep problems worse if you already have trouble getting some shuteye. When you sleep on your stomach, you become more prone to tossing and turning. Plus, it can cause you to strain your lower back and neck.
On Your Right Side
Do you suffer with digestive issues like acid reflux? Then you might not want to sleep on your right side because that sleep position can end up making you feel worse. If you like sleeping on your side, switch to your left side instead.
There are some perks of sleeping on your side. Resting on your side is best if you snore (your partner or your roommate will thank you), and if you suffer with back pain, sleeping on your side is a good idea, too. You can even place a pillow in between your thighs or knees so that it could take the pressure off of your back and hips and relieve or prevent pain.
